Johannesburg Will Be Turned Around: Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa says they have identified ways to help revamp the City of Johannesburg to continue to attract investors.

The City, which is the countrys economic hub, is currently in a state of deterioration.

Responding to the question posed by the leader of Build One South Africa Mmusi Maimane in Parliament, which called for the metro to be placed under administration, Ramaphosa said they will be able to turn around the Metro as they did with eThekwini.

He was answering oral questions in the National Assembly in Cape Town.

We have seen that in action in eThekwini. eThekwini was also one of those Metros that was just going downhill and we were able to interact with various stakeholders, they are being business, labour, civil society, local government, provincial government and national government. And if you like all those five key stakeholders were able to get together, fold their arms and identify a number of areas in which they can work. We established work streams and today eThekwini, of course, with good leadership is beginning to turn around.
