The City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) has issued a safety alert, advising residents to use heating devices with caution following a temperature drop warning from the South African Weather Services.
Scattered thunderstorms have been forecast for Gauteng for today, while snowfall is expected the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal.

EMS Spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi says the city will be on high alert.
He says, From our side as the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, we will remain on high alert over the weekend to make sure that are able to respond to all the emergencies which might occur in all seven regions of the city.
