joburg ems on high alert amid thunderstorms warning

The City of Johannesburgs Emergency Services EMS remains on high alert after the South African Weather Service issued a level 2 yellow warning for severe thunderstorms about a week ago.

Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says no major incidents have been reported within the city, but residents are still urged to stay vigilant.

Mulaudzi says residents are advised to take necessary precautions on wet roads.

We are still pleading with our motorist to continue to exercise caution while driving. Avoid crossing roads and low-lying bridges which might be flooded. Our residents in our low-lying areas to continue to avoid crossing river streams while conducting their daily activities. From our side as the City of Johannesburg, we continue to be on high alert monitoring all seven regions of the city.
