Jmpd Issues Road Closure Alert For Soweto Derby At Fnb Stadium
The Johannesburg Metro Police Department JMPD has warned motorists about road closures around the FNB Stadium in Soweto due to the match between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
The JMPD says a traffic system will be implemented on Nasrec Road, with additional lanes created to facilitate access to and from the stadium.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says metro police officers will be deployed around the stadium.
Soweto Highway will be closed to traffic from 11am until 7pm between the N1 bridge and Mentz Street in Booysens and will only be accessible for Rea Vaya bus services. Additionally, Booysens Reserve Road will also be closed to traffic between Crownwood Road and League Avenue or Nasrec Road, and will be accessible to Park and Ride, VIP ticket holders and accredited media.
