Institute for Race Relations (IRR) fellow Gabriel Crouse has supported backed Agriculture Minister John Steenhuisen s decision to call for the resignation of his newly appointed Chief of Staff, Roman Cabanac.

Cabanac, a podcaster who is well-known for his purportedly divisive opinions, has come under fire for his racial remarks, endorsing colonialism remarks made by Helen Zille and opposing Covid-19 lockdown measures.

Steenhuisen made the announcement during a Q and A session at the Cape Town Press Club on Thursday.

Well, my view is that this is tough on Mr Cabanac and his family. He hasnt accepted that hell step down yet but it seems likely that he will. But I think its good for the Department of Agriculture, I think its good for the country and I think its good for the DA.
