This years Womens Month is commemorated under the theme Celebrating 30 Years of Democracy Towards Womens Development.
It marks the 68th anniversary of the historic March to the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
The 1956 March defied the pass laws that limited women of colour and where they were allowed to work.
The country holds Womens Month to honour women as upcoming agents of change and social revolution.
It also celebrates achievements and but taking note of the tribulations that remain while calling for additional support from women in South Africa.
