Iec Case On Unescorted Election Material In Kzn Has Another Delay

The Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court in KwaZulu-Natal KZN has postponed the case of area manager of the Independent Electoral Commission IEC Musawenkosi Mnikathi accused of transporting election material without being escorted by police during the general elections on the 29th of May.

Members of the MK Party, who laid the complaint against Mnikathi, attended the case yesterday.

Defence advocate Ashleigh Jennings says the case was postponed because the prosecutor is sick.

"What is happening today is that we came back and we have got electricity and we have water, but we don't have a prosecutor. So, the matter has been adjourned to the 26th of November so that our application can be dealt with. After that I hope I we will be able to give you a full interview but at the moment, I cannot say much because the matter is still in court."

MK Party spokesperson for the Moses Mabhida region, Carry Ngcobo, has expressed their frustrations over the delays.
