Impeached Judge President of the Western Cape bench, Dr. John Hlophe says he was a darling until he challenged systems in the Western Cape.
This as he reflected on his legal career from being the golden boy in the legal profession to a former Judge stripped of his status and former glory.
Speaking to SABC News, Dr. Hlophe, who reflected on his rise and fall in his memoir Defying the Gallows, highlighted when his troubles began.
"First of all, before the racism report, I was a darling of the legal profession and even the late Chief Justice Arthur Chaskalson said he has no doubt I will be a future chief justice that is how I was viewed then, things turned with respect. When the racism report was made public , I was then accused, I was told I am unstable, I dont know what I am doing, I am mad.
