Legendary actress Cynthia Shange, known for her iconic role in Muvhango has revealed a distressing experience with her health.
At the Simon Mabhunu Sabela KZN Film and Television Awards, where she received the Lifetime Achievement award, Shange disclosed the details of her battle with diabetes and the near amputation of her leg.
According to reports from Sunday World, Shange shared her gratitude for being able to accept the prestigious award in person.
I could have accepted this award being accompanied by someone with a wheelchair, but I am grateful for Gods mercy, said Shange.
The 75-year-old actress recounted her struggle with diabetes related complications, which led to a three month hospitalisation in 2018. During this time, she faced the daunting prospect of losing her leg due to the severity of her condition.
