hx unveils birding cruises

HX Cruises (Hurtigruten Expeditions) has announced ten itineraries focused on birdwatching in the Galpagos Islands, Antarctica and Alaska.

The cruise line is partnering with the American National Audubon Society, a bird conservation organisation, to offer these itineraries.

Each trio will host a trained ornithologist or a team of local naturalist guides to educate passengers. The routes explore a variety of ecosystems to maximise bird watching opportunities and they feature the chance to spot rare bird species.

These Aubudon voyages include the in-depth Antarctica and Patagonia Expedition Southbound in October, where passengers will have the chance to see the Pygmy Owl, the Humboldt Penguin, the Magellanic Penguin and the Southern Giant Petrel, among other species.

The Nine of the Best Isles Galpagos Island trip in October and December this year will allow guests to see the American Flamingo, blue-footed booby, Galpagos Hawk and Galpagos Penguin.
