Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube says their target is to completely eradicate pit structures in schools by March 2025.
The minister assessed the state of education in the Limpopo province.
Gwarube says over 90% of schools in the province that were using pit latrines, were provided with Enviro Loos, which are waterless, dry sanitation toilet systems, and flushing toilets.
Gwarube says the department is dedicated to improving infrastructure in schools.
Nationally, we are sitting at 266; here in Limpopo, we are sitting at 31. I engaged the MEC on this and they are at various stages of implementation in the various schools. So, I am confident that if we work together and if we blacklist the implementing agents that do not do government works, we can meet the target, says Gwarube.
