'gulf Of America' Bill Heads To The Governor's Desk

The "Gulf of America" bill will make it to Governor Ron DeSantis' desk.

HB 575 went before the Florida Legislature on Wednesday and passed 28 to 9.

It would require all references to the "Gulf of Mexico" in Florida to be changed to "Gulf of America."

A similar bill also passed in the legislature, HB 549 . It would require state agencies to update geographic materials to reflect new federal designation of "Gulf of Mexico" as "Gulf of America." It would also require instructional materials library media center collections adopted or acquired by certain entities on or after specified date to reflect new federal designation of "Gulf of Mexico" as "Gulf of America".
