Government Seeks Comprehensive Probe In Matatiele Child Rape Case
Minister in the Presidency responsible for Women, Youth, Children and Persons with Disabilities, Sindisiwe Chikunga says law enforcement officers must ensure they leave no stone unturned in their investigation into the alleged rape of a seven year-old girl in Matatiele in the Eastern Cape.
The girl was allegedly raped in October last year.
Chikunga and provincial Social Development MEC Bukiwe Fanta expressed shock that there are two more children in the province, including a 6-year-old boy, who were allegedly raped at a different private school in the same area last year.
Chikunga and Fanta visited the families of the three victims.
"As government we are with you in your pain. But of course, as government we are going to leave no stone unturned. We will be ensuring that these cases continue and they see the light of the day and we will ensure that every information that is required to make these cases stronger is actually gathered by our law enforcement agencies."
