Good News For Dstv Premium, Compact Plus And Compact Subscribers

good news for dstv premium compact plus and compact subscribers

DStv Premium, Compact Plus and Compact subscribers can watch two concurrent streams again, effective Thursday, 13 March 2025.

In March 2022, MultiChoice South Africa removed the ability to stream on two devices concurrently as part of a crackdown on password sharing and pirate streams.

It later allowed subscribers to add up to two mobile streams on their subscription - but at a cost for each additional stream. This allowed up to three people to stream on a subscription at the same time.

DStvs free concurrent streams are back

In a statement on Thursday 13 March, MultiChoice South Africa announced a reversal of its 2022 streaming limit decision, citing changing viewing habits.

Subscribers will now have the freedom to stream on two devices concurrently, including on smart TVs, laptops or smartphones.

"The update offers greater flexibility to customers, making it easier for them to watch what they want when they want," MultiChoice said.

"As more South African households use a second screen to broaden their individual entertainment choices, the return of DStv's second stream option is great news for families.

Customers who have DStv Stream standalone subscriptions will also get an extra concurrent stream on any device.

"DStv Premium customers, who already receive Showmax at no extra cost, now have access to two DStv streams and two Showmax streams, bringing their total concurrent streaming options to four," the company explained.

"DStv Compact customers also now have two DStv streams, can add Showmax to their subscription at a discount, and enjoy two Showmax streams, also giving them four concurrent streaming options in total."
