Gogo Maweni Released On R5 000 Bail, Case Postponed To 11 February

Traditional healer, Makgotso Gogo Maweni Mofokeng has been released on R5 000 bail after briefly appearing in the Protea Magistrate's Court in Soweto.

Mofokeng is facing a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm . She was arrested on 19 January in connection with an assault incident.

The case has been postponed to next month.

Mofokeng handed herself over at the Mondeor Police Station on Sunday, 19 January after police came to her residence looking for her in connection with an assault incident in which she is alleged to have assaulted the complainant with a bottle in December last year.

The state prosecutor says the accused has four previous convictions against her dating back to 2015. The case has been postponed to 11 February 2025.
