Godongwana To Finalise Budget, Table It On March 12: Cabinet

Cabinet says Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana is set to finalise the budget and table it before parliament on March 12.

This follows the conclusion of a Special Meeting convened yesterday to consider inputs by its members into the best possible options to fund the 2025/2026 budget.

The meeting follows another one convened a week earlier, on February 24th, where President Cyril Ramaphosa set up a team of Ministers led by Deputy President Paul Mashatile to work with Godongwana to consolidate inputs.

The team has looked at options to fund the budget that take into account the countrys fiscal constraints, the impact on poor and middle-income households and supports economic growth.

The budget was postponed last month primarily due to disagreements within parliament on a two percent vat increase proposed by National Treasury.
