The Congress of South African Trade Unions Cosatu Western Cape Provincial Secretary, Melvin De Bruyn says the Government of National Unity GNU has so far not worked in favour of the countrys workers.
This comes, as Cosatus nationwide strike is under way.
The labour federation says the protest action seeks to highlight high unemployment, rampant corruption and the escalating cost of living.
The protest is joined by the South African Communist Party SACP, which has previously slammed tripartite alliance ally, the African National Congress ANC for entering into the GNU with parties such as the Democratic Alliance DA.
De Bruyn points to the boycott of the Basic Education Laws Amendment Bill signing by Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube and other DA policy positions as evidence that the GNU is anti-worker rights in its orientation.
