Talented South African road runner Glenrose Xaba has shattered the national record in her marathon debut.
The 29-year-old won the Cape Town Marathon in gusty conditions this morning, clocking a time of two hours, 22 minutes and 22 seconds over the 42-kilometre distance.
Xaba bettered Gerda Steyns national womens record that was set in Valencia in Spain last year by nearly two minutes.
Its also a new course record.
Xaba is also the national record holder over 10 kilometres.
