Gift Of The Givers Hands Out Food And Aid In Wc Ahead Of Ramadan

The Gift of the Givers in the Western Cape has handed out food supplies to over 20 centres, including mosques and organisations from impoverished areas.

Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide where they are encouraged to increase their charitable giving and support the poor and needy through food distributions.

Moulana Abdul Khaliq Allie from the United Ulama Council of South Africa says everyone in society has a role to play where they can reach out to one another.

"The poorest of the poor, the weakest of the weak should be taken care of. Likewise, everybody else in society has a role and function to play whereby we can be able to meet and reach out to one another. And so, the month of Ramadan is an opportunity for us to reflect what happened in Gaza, what has happened elsewhere, where people are placed under occupation or oppression, where there is hardships and difficulties and that we dont only reflect upon our own needs but the needs of others."
