Geremi Njitap has been re-elected as President of FIFPro Africa during the congress held in Rabat, Morocco, from September 12-13, 2024.
Njitap, a former Indomitable Lions midfielder, has held this pivotal role since December 2017, marking a significant tenure of nearly seven years dedicated to advancing the rights and welfare of professional footballers across the continent.
His leadership has been instrumental in addressing critical issues within African football, particularly the rampant non-payment crisis affecting players. Under his stewardship, the National Union of Cameroonian Footballers (SYNAFOC) launched a monthly barometer tool to monitor and report the salary payment status of clubs, revealing that only a fraction of teams in the top tiers are compliant with their financial obligations.
