The minister of sports, arts and culture, McKenzie, has announced plans to bring Formula One racing back to South Africa.
He declared on social media platform X that his term would be considered a failure if he did not succeed in hosting this major sporting event.
As per a report in IOL last June, rumours circulated that the Kyalami racetrack in Johannesburg might host a Formula One event.
However, these plans were reportedly dismissed due to the South African Governments ties to Russia.
The speculation was driven by a gap in the F1 calendar, which was later filled by the Belgian Grand Prix.
