Gauteng Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni has welcomed the conviction and sentencing of rapist Sifiso Mkhwanazi . Mkhwanazi was found guilty of multiple counts of rape, premeditated murder, defeating the ends of justice, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. This is after six decomposed bodies of women were discovered at a factory in Selby, Johannesburg in October 2022. Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says, Mkhwanazi was found guilty and sentenced at the Palmridge High Court on 18 September 2024. He was sentenced to six life imprisonment for murder, 90 years imprisonment for six counts of rape, 10 years imprisonment for defeating the ends of justice, five years for theft, 10 years for defeating the ends of justice, five years for theft, 10 years for imprisonment for possession of an unlicensed firearm, and five years imprisonment for possession of ammunition. The sentences will run concurrently. We commend the tireless efforts of our investigators and the judiciary in ensuring justice for the victims and their families, Nevhuhulwi adds.
