Gauteng Education MEC, Matome Chiloane, says the education systems is designed to empower learners with tools and knowledge they need to thrive in the modern world. Chiloane was speaking during a mini festival event of a multi-certification skills program under the theme Extend Your Reality.
The program aims to assists learners with creativity, innovation, problem solving and confidence.
In partnership with Sci-Bono, the department of education says the learners acquired certificates in different skills during their regular curriculum. Besides obtaining a National Senior Certificate, learners will accumulate a minimum of one accredited skill per academic year from Grade R to Grade 12.
The skills include coding robotics, swimming, drone technology, rocketry, Microsoft digital literacy.
