Gauteng Health Mec Expresses Concern Over Rise In Medical Emergencies
Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko has expressed concern at the increase in the number of medical emergencies in the province this festive season.
Nkomo-Ralehoko was visiting the Gauteng Emergency Medical Service operations centre in Midrand north of Johannesburg to assess medical emergency responses since the beginning of the festive season. She says their teams are fully prepared for any eventuality.
"We are worried. Earlier on you have seen the numbers already they are up. They are surpassing even the numbers of the previous Christmas. We will give you a report so that you can see the detailed numbers. On the 31st we do not know where we will be. But we are praying that the numbers must not grow. But they are growing very fast, even in the system you can see."
