The Gauteng government says the province remains committed to stimulating job creation and economic growth. There have been growing concerns about the provinces nasi ispani campaign and its ability to pay contractors on time.
The campaign is a recruitment programme aimed at providing youth employment opportunities.
Gauteng Finance MEC Lebogang Maile says from the 2024/25 budget of R816 million prioritises, the acceleration of economic recovery and reconstruction while also ensuring a climate to create new jobs by both government and the private sector.
So, when we deal with job creation its not just about nasi ispani. Nasi ispani is an intervention to deal with the immediate challenge that is facing us. But overall, our strategy is to grow the economy.
