Puso Dithejane Optimistic About TS Galaxy's Top 5 Ambitions Despite Tough Start
MBOMBELA, South Africa TS Galaxy midfielder Puso Dithejane remains optimistic that the team can finish in the top five of the Betway Premiership despite a difficult start to the season.
The Rockets, based in Mbombela, have struggled in the league, currently sitting at the bottom of the table with four losses from six matches. Their season has been further hampered by an early elimination from the Carling Knockout competition, where they were knocked out by Magesi FC following a narrow 1-0 defeat in the quarter-finals.
Additionally, TS Galaxy experienced further turmoil with the resignation of head coach Sead Ramovic after their 1-1 draw against Stellenbosch FC. Ramovics departure came during a post-match television interview, leaving the club in a state of uncertainty. However, the Bosnians resignation was swiftly followed by the appointment of Adnan Beganovic as the new head coach, with former player Vuyo Mere joining as his assistant.
Despite the challenges, Dithejane, who joined the club from Kaizer Chiefs development ranks, believes the team can still recover and meet their goal of finishing in the top half of the table. The 20-year-old highlighted positive changes since Beganovics arrival, noting that the team's motivation and mentality have already improved.
Optimism for the Rest of the Season
"We started the season very slowly, and we unfortunately couldnt get the start we were aiming for," Dithejane told Independent Newspapers. "But theres huge motivation in the camp, and we have all the tools to overturn our season."
Dithejane, who moved to TS Galaxy in search of more playing time and further development, mentioned that the team's training sessions under the new coach have been promising, and the players are starting to show the right attitude and determination.
"The season is going to be back on track. Since the new coach came in, things have been looking up. The mentality within the team has shifted, and we've seen the right signs from our training," Dithejane said. "Im confident we can turn things around."
Focus on Clinical Finishing
One area that Dithejane believes needs improvement is the teams finishing. With only two goals scored so far this season, TS Galaxy has struggled to convert opportunities, which has been a contrast to their free-scoring form from the previous campaign when they finished sixth in the league.
We need to work on being clinical in our finishing. In the games weve played so far, weve only scored two goals, and thats not the standard weve set for ourselves, Dithejane explained. Last season we scored a lot of goals, and we are playing well we just need to find the back of the net more consistently.
Looking ahead, Dithejane remains hopeful that TS Galaxy can improve on their sixth-place finish from last season. Despite their challenging start, he believes it is still possible to finish in the top five, with plenty of matches remaining in the season.
The league has only had seven rounds, and weve played only six matches, so its still possible to achieve our goal, Dithejane said. We still believe we can finish in the top five, even if we improve slightly.
Looking Ahead to the Next Test
Under Beganovic's leadership, TS Galaxy will face Sekhukhune United when league action resumes on Tuesday, with the team eager to start their recovery. The midweek fixtures include the following Betway Premiership matchups
- Tuesday - 730pm Chippa United vs. SuperSport United amp Royal AM vs. Golden Arrows
- Wednesday - 730pm Cape Town City vs. Polokwane City amp Kaizer Chiefs vs. Richards Bay
For TS Galaxy, a strong performance against Sekhukhune United could be the turning point they need to get their season back on track and move up the table.
