Future Of Kzn, Gauteng Structures To Top Anc Nec Meeting

Further discussions on whether the KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng provincial executive committees should be disbanded are expected to top the agenda of the African National Congress National Executive Committees ANC NEC meeting.

The partys poor performance in the May 2024 elections has informed the discussions in the two-day meeting which will start in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg, today.

2025 will prove pivotal for the party to regain the support of the electorate as the 2026 local government elections approach.

The massive loss of electoral support in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng contributed to the ANC dipping below 50 nationally for the first time.

As stated by party President Cyril Ramaphosa in his January 8 Statement, some key points of discussion this weekend could be the strengthening of structures as well as the reaffirming of the ANCs alliance with the South African Communist Party and the Congress of South African Trade Unions.
