Fulham Sink Spurs To Boost Champions League Hopes

Tottenham advanced to the Europa League quarter-finals with a midweek win over AZ Alkmaar but suffered yet another post-European slump, falling 2-0 to Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
Marco Silva's side climbed to eighth in the table, moving four points off the top four and three outside the top five, putting them in contention for a Champions League spot. With English clubs performing strongly in Europe this season, a top-five finish is likely to secure qualification for next season's premier competition.
For Spurs, however, Thursday night fixtures have proven a challenge. Ange Postecoglou's men have managed just three wins in 10 league games following their Europa League commitments.
Despite a tightly contested match, Fulham broke the deadlock in the 78th minute when Rodrigo Muniz slotted home after being set up by Andreas Pereira.
Former Tottenham winger Ryan Sessegnon sealed the victory in style, curling in a stunning second goal late in the game.
