Fuel Prices Set For March Adjustments

March is bringing a surprise for South African motorists, with petrol and diesel prices expected to dip slightly, thanks to a combination of a weaker US dollar and falling global oil prices.

Petrol 95 is on track to decrease by 4 cents per litre, while diesel prices are poised to drop by 14 to 20 cents per litre.

The relief doesnt extend to petrol 93, however, which is facing a small 9-cent per litre increase, although this is far less than the 18-cent hike predicted earlier in the week.

The movement in the currency market has been a key factor behind these changes. A softer dollar has led to an over-recovery in fuel prices, pushing both petrol 95 and diesel into positive territory. This marks a turnaround from previous months when consumers saw consistent price hikes.

In addition to this, global oil prices have been slipping, which is also playing a role in the reduction, as per Business Tech .
