Fs Premier Hosts Christmas Celebration For Gbv Survivors

Over 200 survivors of gender-based violence GBV and femicide from across the Free State are expected to gather at the official residence of Premier Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae to celebrate Christmas.

The event aims to offer support and relief to survivors who have endured traumatic experiences.

Letsoha-Mathae emphasized the importance of connecting with the survivors, particularly as Bloemfontein has recorded the highest number of GBV cases in the province this year.

"We felt as a caring government of the Free State, how about just having a lunch shared with these families to ease the pain," said Letsoha-Mathae.

"We know some lost the breadwinners in these families. Others are still crying till today, but we felt lets just have this session where we entertain the kids as well, so that they can just for a moment, forget about the pain they endured in the past year or few months ago."
