Franschhoek Pass Fire Contained

A fire that broke out on the Villiersdorp side of the Franschhoek Pass has been contained.

Cape Winelands District Municipality spokesperson Anesca Roodt says air support had been called in to waterbomb the fire late yesterday afternoon.

She says that fire crews on the scene had been supported by multiple firefighting resources.

Roodt says theyll continue to monitor the situation.

The Cape Winelands District Municipalitys Fire Services, along with their partners Winelands FPA and CapeNature, have successfully contained the fire on the Villiersdorp side of the Franschhoek Pass. A firefighting vehicle with its crew and ground teams will remain on scene for monitoring and mopping-up activities until the area is deemed safe, says Roodt.
