Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews responded to a possible hazardous materials incident at a Las Olas business Wednesday morning, according to authorities.
An employee on the 14th floor of a building near the 200 block of Las Olas Boulevard reported discovering a white powder in an envelope and feeling ill, according to a FLFR spokesperson.
Employees in the affected suite were quarantined and hazmat teams later determined that the substance was not harmful, according to FLFR spokesman Frank Guzman.
Guzman said as of 11 a.m., the scene was being cleared, and employees were expected to return to regular operations.
He said the FBI is now investigating.
