Former Tunisia Football Chief Sentenced To Four Years For Corruption
A Tunisian court on Thursday sentenced Wadie Jary, the former president of the Tunisian Football Federation FTF, to four years in prison on corruption charges, his lawyer confirmed.
Jary, who had been in custody since October 2023, was convicted over an unlawful contract between the FTF and a technical director, according to a spokesperson from the sports ministry.
His lawyer, Kamel Ben Khelil, said they would appeal the verdict.
Jary, who first took charge of the FTF in 2012, has faced multiple allegations in recent years, including match-fixing, financial misconduct, and money laundering-claims he has consistently denied.
His tenure was also marked by repeated conflicts with the sports ministry over his decision-making within the federation.
