Former PRASA head of engineering, Daniel Mtimkulu who was convicted for fraud for faking his qualifications has been sentenced to an effective 15 years in prison.

The HAWKS say as a result of the misrepresentation and fabricated CV, PRASA suffered prejudice in that his annual salary was hiked from R1.6 million to R2.8 million.

Mthimkhulu was charged with nine counts including fraud and forgery by allegedly misrepresenting his qualifications to PRASA.

He claimed among others to have acquired a Masters Degree from Wits University as well as a Doctorate in Engineering Management from the Munich Technical University in Germany.
