Former Manchester City Captain Tony Book Dies At 90

Former Manchester City captain and manager Tony Book has passed away at the age of 90, the club announced on Tuesday.

Book, who played as a right-back, captained City to four major trophies, including the English top-flight title and the European Cup Winners' Cup in the late 1960s and early 1970s. As manager, he led the team to League Cup glory in 1976.

He was later honoured as an honorary president of Manchester City and life president of the official supporters' club.

City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said, "For nearly sixty years, Tony helped shape Manchester City-not just through his contributions as a player, captain, and manager, but also through his humility and devotion to the club."

Al Mubarak added that Book was still performing club duties earlier this season and would be greatly missed at matches.
