Flysafair's Overbooking Strategy Under Scrutiny As Ncc Investigates
The National Consumer Commission NCC has launched an investigation into FlySafair following the airlines admission of overbooking flights.
The probe was sparked by complaints from passengers, including one who was left stranded despite having paid for a flight.
FlySafair said that overbooking is a strategy to keep ticket prices affordable, but it offers compensation to affected passengers.
We do overbook flight to ensure we keep our tickets as affordable as possible for our passengers. We do see how inconvenient this can be and therefore offer compensation for passengers that were not able to take the flight they've booked, the airline said on X.
In response to this, the NCC released a statement on 8 January 2025, acknowledging concerns raised in the media.
