Flights Resume At King Phalo Airport After Weather, Navigation Issues
Flights have resumed at King Phalo Airport in East London after Thursdays cancellations were caused by gloomy weather and problems with the navigation system, which prevented flights from taking off or landing.
Provincial Transport Spokesperson Unathi Binqose says since the weather has cleared, flights are able to operate, adding that this is a relief for the province.
Binqose says, "These are welcomed developments for us as the Department of Transport for we understand the importance of transportation, particularly air transportation as an enabler for economic development. Especially for our province that is in dire need of economic stimulation."
"We further welcome the national Minister, Barbara Creecy on giving clear deadlines to our partners in attending to their navigation systems challenges, without cutting any corners of course, so we can avoid fair weather airports as is the case at the moment," he adds.
