First Lusikisiki Mass Murder Victim To Be Buried Today

Mourners are arriving in Gqathula for the funeral service of one of the 18 people gunned down in Ngobozana village in Lusikisiki , Eastern Cape last month.

Twenty-one-year-old Ruth King is the first person to be buried following the murders.

A local ward councillor, Mpofane Tenyane says they are relieved that a suspect has been arrested.

I can safely say that on our side as government, we were willing to bury, to make mass funeral. But due to engagement with the families, they felt that we must make a memorial service that includes all of them. We are happy that the funeral is taking place while the suspect is behind bars.
