First Black Attorney General Rodney De Kock Has Passed
Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Rodney de Kock has passed on. De Kock was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer in December last year.
He passed on in Morningside Mediclinic in Johannesburg on Monday.
With a career spanning over three decades De Kock was the first black person to be appointed an Attorney General in the country when he took up the post of Attorney General of the Western Cape in 1999.
He joined the Prosecuting Authority in February 1999 and was appointed as Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions in 2020.
He also served as Director of Public Prosecutions for the Western Cape from 2003.
