Firefighters And Springbok Legend Take On Charity Marathon For Wildfire Services

This year, the Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon promises not only to be a vibrant spectacle of running but also an inspiring display of camaraderie and community effort as firefighters band together to raise funds for the Volunteer Wildfire Services VWS.
Joining the spirited team of city firefighters is none other than former Springbok hooker, James Dalton, demonstrating that the bonds of sport can extend beyond the pitch, uniting people for a noble cause, reports Cape town Etc .
What began as a friendly challenge in 2017 has transformed into an annual tradition, bringing attention to the invaluable work of VWS in combating the bushfires that threaten the landscapes of the Western Cape.
City firefighters Jermaine Carelse and Renaldo Duncan have been pivotal to this initiative since its inception, and they are set to run once more, sporting their firefighting gear and self-contained breathing apparatus, which adds an extra 10 kilogrammes to their already demanding challenge.
Dalton expressed passionately that running this race for VWS is a privilege: 'These men and women put their lives on the line to protect our communities and the natural landscapes of the Western Cape, and they do it without hesitation.
