Description

Purpose of the Job:
The Senior Payroll Accountant will oversee and manage the payroll function, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all payroll transactions for the FSCA. This role involves preparing monthly payroll reports, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and ensuring that employee compensation is processed accurately according to organizational policies. The appointed individual will report to the Departmental Head: Finance.


Key Performance Areas:

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process, including the preparation and processing of payroll, leave, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, statutory, and FSCA internal regulations governing payroll, including tax and UIF submissions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports, including tax filings and other statutory returns.
  • Address and resolve all payroll-related queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end audits and liaise with external auditors as required.
  • Implement and maintain efficient payroll systems and procedures to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to the HR and Finance departments on payroll-related matters.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of employee benefit contributions and deductions.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of payroll data and processes.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with relevant external agencies such as SARS, UIF, and other payroll-related service providers.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in payroll accounting or a related finance function, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, statutory deductions, and tax legislation.
  • Proficiency in payroll software e.g., Sage and Microsoft Excel.
