Faulty Honda And Ineos Grenadier Vehicle Models Recalled In South Africa

faulty honda and ineos grenadier vehicle models recalled in south africa

The National Consumer Commission NCC has announced the recall of two INEOS Grenadier and three Honda Civic vehicle models in South Africa.

This follows a notification from the suppliers, NCC said on Friday 21 March.

INEOS Grenadier recalls

The recalled INEOS Grenadier models are the M1 Passenger Station Wagon and N1 Light Commercial vehicle double cab pick-up. These cars went on sale from 1 June 2023 onwards.

INEOS Automotive South Africa informed the NCC that some consumers have reported door buttons remaining in the depressed position when a door is opened from the outside. This, according to the supplier, could cause the door not to fully close and latch as designed, NCC said.

The vehicles were sold nationally at SMH Group Johannesburg and SMG INEOS Grenadier in KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town. They were also exported to several African countries, including Namibia, Botswana, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Nigeria and Senegal.

The Commission urged owners of the affected models to return them to their nearest or preferred dealerships or authorised repairers.

They should then arrange an appointment for the vehicles to be inspected and have all door button mechanisms replaced.

Honda recalls

The affected Honda models are the CIVIC 4 door, CIVIC TYPE R 5 door and CR-V5 door, based on a notification from Honda Motor Southern Africa Pty Ltd. They went on sale from 2022 to 2025, and owners should return them to the suppliers to replace affected parts.

The recall follows the EPS Gear Box Worm Wheel Swelling Failure. According to the supplier, the steering gearbox could result in abnormal noise or dangerous sticking when turning the steering, NCC explained.
