Facsa Calls For Wced Intervention After Student Allegedly Commits Suicide

A 14-year-old student from Spine Road High School in Cape Town allegedly committed suicide after being bullied by his peers, reports Cape town Etc .

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, Lentegeur police were called out to Allexis Preller in New Woodlands, Mitchells Plain, on Wednesday evening, 19 February 2025, where the body of Niyaaz Smith was found.

Upon arrival at the crime scene, they found the body of a 14-year-old male, confirmed Swartbooi. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel.

According to several social media reports , Niyaaz had complained on several occasions about the alleged bullying, with some saying that he allegedly wrote a letter naming the pupils and teachers that bullied him.

The police, however, have not confirmed this.
