Express Courier Appoints Stalwarts To Head Up Sub-saharan Region

FedEx has announced the appointment of Gregory Saffy as the new managing director of Operations and Leon Bruwer as MD of Sales to oversee its sub-Saharan Africa operations.

Saffy has over 28 years of experience in the logistics industry, having held several leadership roles, such as MD and senior director of freight forwarder DSV.

His contributions included shaping operational strategy and facilitating integration following DSV's acquisition of UTi.

In his new role, Saffy will be responsible for FedEx operations across eight countries, including South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya.

Bruwer has more than 30 years of experience in logistics, with expertise in ocean and air freight, operations and sales.

He has held key leadership positions at organisations like Savino Del Bene and DB Schenker.

Taarek Hinedi, vice president for the Middle East and Africa at FedEx, welcomed the appointments.

He said Saffy and Bruwers experience and leadership would be instrumental in driving transformation and delivering outstanding services to customers throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
