The President of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Etoo, has sparked an online storm with his sharp response to comments made by Marc Brys, which many perceived as a veiled insult to veteran coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile.
Addressing the controversy, Etoo remarked, Some have forgotten this great man, in defense of Mpiles contributions to Cameroonian football.
The uproar began during a press conference where Marc Brys expressed frustration over his assistant coach being barred from the bench, stating
There are a lot of things that are blocked A coach with a Pro license is in the stands for the 8th time, but someone with a B degree, meaning he can coach young people, is on the bench.
The statement was widely interpreted as an attack on Mpile, who many regard as a football icon. Fans and pundits alike criticized Brys for what they deemed disrespectful to the decorated coach.
