An eThekwini resident, Kavi Naidoo, has developed a water monitoring platform that he believes could help address the municipalitys ongoing water issues .

The system, called Cascada Sensor, uses a physical sensor and mobile app to inform consumers about the status of their water supply.

Naidoo says the platform is both cost-effective and user-friendly.

So what Cascada does is notify you if you have water or not. It tells you when that status changes and lets you see whats happening in other areas, he says.

The system includes a sensor placed on a property, a mobile app, and a monthly subscription.
