The Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh , has congratulated Esther Nworgu for winning the silver medal in the womens up to 41kg powerlifting event at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Paris, France.

Nworgu set two new Paralympic records with her final attempts at the gold medal but was narrowly beaten by China's Zhe Cui, who set a new record of 119kg.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the Ministers Special Assistant, Diana-Mary Nsan, Enoh praised Nworgu's achievement, calling it heart-warming, historic, and inspiring.

"It is with immense pride that, on behalf of our dear President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and sports-loving Nigerians, I congratulate Esther Nworgu on her silver-winning heroics at the Paralympic Games, Enoh said. This well-deserved victory, especially after the disappointment of the Olympic Games, is not only heartwarming but uplifting.

Enoh expressed gratitude to Nworgu for lifting the nations spirits through her patriotism, hard work, and embodiment of the resilient Nigerian spirit.
