Eskom has announced an invitation for bids to design, supply, install, operate, and maintain a solar photovoltaic (PV) plant with a capacity of up to 30 MWp at the Komati Power Station in Mpumalanga.

According to the bid document , the contract is for three years. The request for proposal (RFP) is anticipated to be released in December. The tender specifies that the facility must include a single-axis tracker system, be connected to the existing Eskom grid, and have a 25-year lifespan.

The power utility has secured financing from the World Bank for the Eskom Just Energy Transition Project and plans to use a portion of the funds to make payments for the contract.

Bidders will be selected based on the World Banks Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers, Fifth Edition, September 2023. Interested parties can access additional information through various platforms, including the Eskom tender bulletin ( Eskom Tender Bulletin ), the National Treasury e-tender portal, the Construction Industry Development Board website ( CIDB ), the United Nations Development Business site ( UNDB ), and the World Bank Group website ( World Bank Group ).

The deadline for applications for initial selection is October 29.
