Eskom Implements Stage 2 Loadshedding

eskom implements stage 2 loadshedding

The state power utility Eskom has officially announced the reintroduction of Stage 2 loadshedding, commencing immediately from 4pm on Thursday, 24 April 2025.

The decision comes as a culmination of various compounding factors that have strained the already fragile electricity supply system, Cape town Etc reports.

Eskoms recent statement outlined the specific challenges resulting in this shortfall, citing higher-than-expected electricity demand, the loss of generation units, and extensive planned maintenance as critical contributors.

As the power grid grapples with these obstacles, the utility has called upon the public to conserve energy as a means to alleviate pressure on the system.

Despite significant progress in our generation recovery efforts, we find ourselves in a position where immediate intervention is necessary. Stage 2 loadshedding will remain in effect until 05:00 tomorrow, Eskom stated, emphasising the urgency of the situation.
