Eskom Briefs Parliament Committee On Winter Generation Capacity
Eskom says despite setbacks, it is determined to prevent load shedding as winter sets in.
The power utility briefed Parliaments Electricity and Energy Committee on its strategic plan for the period between 2025 and 2030.
This after Eskom abruptly implemented stage two load shedding on Thursday afternoon and suspended it at midnight.
The power utilitys CEO Dan Marokane says their focus is on ensuring the availability of additional power as temperatures start to drop.
This year we will enter June with additional capacity from Medupi unit 6 , Kusile unit 6 and the refurbished Koeberg unit 2. When we approach the next cycle of maintenance, we have more capacity and therefore the level of maintenance will not be as high as it is and it will help us smooth out our availability.
